Ever since God or "Darwin" decided to create a race sporting a somewhat higher level of consciousness than the rest of the living creatures, we tend to ignore the fact that we are biologically just another race of mammals. Among all living creatures, there is one singel subconscious behavior driving motive - the powerful force of 'wanting' to reproduce.
In essence, every single type of behavior strive to ultimately reproduce yourself as well as possible. Giving homo sapience a superior conscience left us drifting in an 'unnatural' state of mental complexity depriving us of our natural instincts.
Men still strive to show off the nicest nest, the best resourses and the safest child environment (albeit sometimes in a peculiar way).
Women still strive to look their most appropriate as child bearers and carers.
