I could guarantee that 30 years ago in the fall, no one would have dreamed of shooting up a school in October.

Why?

It's the beginning of hunting season and a lot of shotguns/rifles were sitting in teachers' (and students' if it was a high school) cars waiting to be used after school.

The key word for me voting "yes" was "trained".

"Allow trained teachers to carry a gun?" Yes.

"Allow teachers to carry a gun?" No.
