CCW=Concealed Carry Weapon

This implys that the firearm is carried on the person and is concealed. We may talk HERE about our CCWs, but we don't talk in public that we carry concealed. That is actually part of the deal. It's like "Fight Club". You know the first two rules.

Only 2% of the people who are allowed to actually get the permit and carry. So I do not expect most teachers to actually get a permit. This is a "Should they be allowed, if they are trained?", not a "Every teacher must be armed!" statement. My wife has stated that she would not be able to pull the trigger. Until she changes, she should not get a CCW permit. Waving a gun around doesn't shutdown a sitation, it will only escalate it.

Federal law prohibits firearms in school. This prevents LAW ABIDING citizens from carrying in schools, but prevents no one who will carry anyway. CCW permits are an exception, but then the state CCW laws usually prohibit permit holders carrying in schools.

The reason I posted this was not about the school shootings. It was from reading about the woman who is being threatened by her husband. She wants to be able to protect herself from a known threat. She has been trained and has her CCW permit. She is not allowed to carry on school grounds.

Finally, anyone who knows anything about CCW permit holders also knows they are some of the most law abiding citizens around. They break the law about 0.2% of the time compared to the average citizen, at least here in Texas. Permit holders are far less likely to do something rash after a traffic accident, road rage situation, than an average citizen.

I do not want to turn our schools into mini-prisons with armed guards, metal detectors, etc. But, a few trained people can make a difference.
