Welcome Tony!
Where are you located?
Where are the pics of your car?
Oil, oil, oil. It is like asking what color one like (almost). There are a lot of people claiming synthetic is bad for an old air cooled engine. There are a lot people saying nothing less than xw50. Then there are people like me who fill my 85 up with Mobil 1 fully synthetic 0w40 every year without any leaks or smoking and pulling like a train. Aiming to protect the engine as far as possible from the dreaded cold start wear.
As long as one uses a quality oil and changes it within reasonable intervals I will stick my neck out and speculate that there are no indisputable evidence that it will make any significant difference.
You are now entering the dark side of vintage Porsche passion ownership. There is no substitute and no escape. Welcome aboard!
