Edit: OK, I'm a little late to the party, but here's my $.02 on the grand question...
Every person must have their passions....passions are what give us our soul. If this is your passion...and part of your soul...your soulmate shouldn't ask you to get rid of it. If she does, she's not your soulmate.
My first Porsche outlasted my first marriage. Now with Julie, I've bought and sold many Porsches...lost money on pretty much all of them (which I never cared about)...but Julie has always been nothing but supportive. She understands and shares my passions, even if they're not always her passions. This is why she's my soulmate.
