I was looking at the Lincoln 3200HD at Home depot, and a similar model at Canadian Tire. Once I got them out of the boxes, I found they both had "click" settings for heat. I really wanted continuous, any welder I spoke to insisted that I'd eventually regret not having that. This one was only a couple hundred more, and it came with the gas.
It does flux core & MIG. If I want, I can get a spool kit for welding aluminum. It will
work, but apparently the 220V version (180c) is better suited for that.
The other big selling point was the fact that Lincoln is the official welder for Nascar. It even has a sticker on the side... just the kind of manly credibility my garage so desperately needs.
