argh! do i look like a nerd , or what!?

yep- a pretty well known 917 that was owned by Otis Chandler at that time, who had bought it from Solar Productions (aka THAT #20 917 from a certain movie......)
Dan Mc Gloughlin's A.I.R. was the locale for the shot. Dan is one of the coolest people around when it came to "holding court" at his shop. We got to sit in this car, touchy feely and all that. It was there for a light body resto and paint.
I have a couple other shots that should be scanned and posted for posterity. Chuck Kendall ended up with the car for a while- it ran at Monterey historics, then Otis had it back for a bit, then it ended up with Bruce Mc Caw from PNW area- raced a LOT in vintage, then some porsche collecting comedian ended up with it; I don't remember his name..... LOL

I think the primered and wide fendered 914-6 to my right could be Harold Von Keczeki's (sp?) original GT . Harold was constantly having fun with his GT modifying it to accept a full on turbo motor and huge AIR kit. There are some pics of it all painted in GT trim complete with huge boat inlet scoops on the rear deck
