Hi,
I have a 1970 911T Targa that needs an engine rebuild. I want to verify what the engine really is before I start the rebuild.
I have the "Red Book" in my hand and my engine serial number does not match anything in the book. The number that I see on the bottom of the engine case is:
901.101.102.2R. The serial number on my fan housing is:
901.106.101.5R . According to the red book, engine serial numbers have 6 digits only, so I am stumped
Maybe it is not the serial number of the engine but the serial number of the case that I'm looking at?
