Hugh,
Just to answer your question, my car doesn't leak oil onto the floor, but it does leak oil onto the left heat exchanger. Once there, I assume it just burns away. The car doesn't smoke either, I assume it's just usage thru the valve guides, etc. Sometime in the future, I'll do a top end rebuild.
This being said, I guess there's no valid reason why I couldn't drive it across country, I just need to bring extra Rotella.
