If he imported the car using the "Show or Display" rules, I wonder what that means to a potential buyer?
Seems very common that a seller may "claim" no problem for you to register, when they in fact have no idea if its even possible. This is the first Japanese model I have heard of making it into the US, but they are commonly sold in Canada at VERY reasonable prices. Take a look at some of the prices and mileage from recent sales, if it was "easy" it would be happening a LOT.
