my living room is dark all the time. It faces east and I have dark drapes and tree coverage, so glare and ambient light are not issues at all. From what I understand glare can be a problem with most plasma displays, although the slightly higher priced version of this Panasonic model has a coated screen.

The only problem will be when I move in 6 months or so...never sure what the room will be like. Still pondering switching to a smaller LCD but I have to admit that the more I watch it the more I get used to the big screen. With viewing position about 7-8' away, 42" evidently is about optimal. Just seems huge compared to the 26" crt it replaced.
