Don't keep trying to use it - come to grips with the fact that you were duped. The satisfaction value realized in throwing it in the dumpster is almost = to the purchase price.
Don't make the mistake of keeping it. If you put it on a shelf, say on top of a can that is smaller in OD than the roll, it will eventually flow and drape itself around the smaller object it is resting on. The rate of cold flow is proportional to the storage area temperature. If you put it flat on a shelf with nothing under it then it will bond itself to the shelf with a grip four times the rated grip of the adhesive on the tape.
