Hi Raf,
Hope you have forgiven me for diss'ing the Subaru WRX, anyhow
I personally would have both cars seriously gone over by an independant source. This may save you a huge amount of money in the long run!.
If it was me, I would buy the SC - if the mileage can be confirmed (service records etc) and if the condition reflects the mileage.
Also as Andy stated the Coupe would be stiffer.
I believe the older Carrera's (mine included) suffer with degradeing electrics which in turn confuse the complex DME.
For example, the 3 plugs on the left side of the engine bay on my car (Head temp sensor and flywheel ref. mark sensors) were so old and heat degraded that they 'crumbled'. If these break down without you noticing they can either kill the car or at least make it run rough!(there are at least 7 of these plugs/sockets that I can think of now!) .
I have not owned an SC but given the chance again I would have sacrificed any performance and other upgrades for the more simple and robust system of the SC.
Just check it has had the usual upgrades, chain tensioners, oil pop off lid, and poss head stud degradation. I am sure there are a ton of others!.
Hope this helps
rgds Ben
