I was a Californian until Mar 06, so I will chime in.
I liked Arnold pretty well. He has mostly the right ideas. I voted for most of the Propositions he supported. Unfortunately, he really blew it in his first term, picked fights with too many interest groups at the same time and did silly things like calling his opponents girly-men. Basically forgot he wasn't the Terminator and didn't remember you have to dicker, horse-trade, and schmooze, and that getting one thing done at a time is better than failing at a whole bunch of things at once. It is especially tricky for him because he has no majority in the Legislature, in fact the Republicans sometimes see him as a quasi-Democrat.
At this point, I no longer pay much attention to CA politics except CA gun legislation and the high-speed train proposal. Arnold signed the microstamping law and is trying to delay a vote on the next study phase of the train, so I'm rather disappointed.
