As the owner of 3 horses, let me chime in...
1.) There is a strap-in device for children under the age of 3. I have a feeling you may be too big for that kind of saddle.
2.) You will need tighty whities only if you're interested in using your genitals without pain after the ride. And the smaller the pony, the more miserable the ride. If you have little to no experience on horseback, stay at the walk. It's simple math -- Trotting Pony + Bouncing Testicles = PAIN. Or as my 4 year old son said after his first lesson on our pony -- "Dad. My nutty crackle hurts a lot."
3.) Request a thorough cup check before the ride. In fact, a full afternoon and evening of cup checking is a much better idea than riding some wet stinky pony in the rain.
4.) Some horses bite. Some do not. Some horses have a keen sense when they have a newbie on board. I'm sure her pony is docile and sweet. And if it isn't, the pain from the bite will take your mind off the pain in your ass, thighs and sack.
Anyways, my suggestion is to keep the pony ride short. Three minutes will be plenty of time to fully understand why you don't see grown men riding ponies.
