Funny you mention this topic. Toasters are a sore spot in our house and a peeve of mine. The newer wider 4 slot bread/bagel/english muffin toasters now all seem to do a horrible job of toasting. We're on our 3rd attempt at getting one that can simply toast both sides evenly. We set our toaster to very light and flip the bread manually and toast it again to even it out.

I'm almost to the point to make my own toaster or adding resistance to one side of each slot on our current model.
