When you MAKE coffee you are creating the taste of something. Your not making the bread here....so the quality of the bread which effects taste is not an issue...just some brown on the bread...and cheap works as well as expensive in this instance.

Some might argue that making coffee is just running hot water over ground beans.
Surely you have experienced a fresh piece of bread toasted just the right amount, evenly across the surfaces of both sides of the bread? And when the toasting is done quickly and with an appropriately regulated temperature, it leaves the inner part of the bread soft and warm, not dry and crusty.
Toasting is a brief form of cooking.
I feel that another world of "appreciation" awaits you.
