Tule fog is unique and dangerous as hell. This hundred car pile up repeats itself regularly and always at this time of year (or later). Once you've entered it's a complete hail mary. Really, the only sure way to stop the progression is for the last car to be sticking out of the fog. Until that happens, you drive in before you can stop and something solid is already parked in front of you.
