An alternate alternator theory?
Where do you have the meter wired up at?
Three spots come to mind I would hook it to and check for some period of time, battery post, boost post, alternator.
OTOH how hard is it to get the alternator out and test it? Gotta be easier to get a wire on it to your voltmeter.
