Jeremy Clarkson recently dropped into The Lido at Chipping Norton - quite literally - to film a spectacular stunt for Top Gear. Filmed amidst great secrecy in early May before the pool re-opened, the stunt was masterminded by Bickers, the team that has worked on many a Bond film.

Clarkson had kindly offered to host another Auction of Promises in 2005, so The Lido management team asked if there was anything we could do in return! Jeremy has always wanted to recreate the urban legend concerning Keith Moon driving a car into his swimming pool. After talks with Bickers, and the Top Gear production team at the BBC, The Lido's management were satisfied that the stunt could be achieved safely and without any damage being done, and filming went ahead."

The programme in which Jeremy drives a two-ton Rolls Royce Silver Shadow into The Lido was screened on Sunday 12 June.
