I've done it a couple times, and it's always been a last-minute rushed thing.

If I have to do it again, I would:

-Replace any CV boots that were older than a year or so

-Have a look beforehand to see if I need struts, ball joints, bushings

-The axles are bolted to the flanges using 8mm triple square bolts... (they look like Torx but they aren't) have a couple spare ones, because they get stripped easily. Clean those bolts out well before trying to loosen them... tap the socket in with a hammer to make sure they're well seated.

Once the socket starts to look like this, it'll strip the bolts and then it's really no fun. I usuallt trim it back with an angle grinder at least once before moving on to a new one.
