My office at work gets notified whenever one of our guys comes back from Iraq. We meet them at the airport en mass...with signs and streamers...and welcome them home. We also send them off that way.
Happy Veteran's Day Seahawk! Thanks for your service.

Was eating dinner at a Japanese place in Dubai last December. I was heading home the next night, the 24th. Four enlisted Navy guys sat down at the teppan yaki table next to us. After a while we started talking and found out that they had just started a 6 month cruise on the carrier Teddy Roosevelt.
We had finished our dinner before they had and paid our bill and started to leave. As we were walking out they grabbed one of our party as the waiter had told them that there was no charge for their dinner and they wondered what had happened. I had paid for them and finally had to fess up that my Brother flew off of the carriers USS Oriskany and USS Phil Sea and Father was on the USS Alabama so they were kinda family to me. Unfortunately I was an US Army puke but they laughed at that.
They were going into harms way over the holidays while I was flying back to CONUS and a warm and safe home. Least I could do for them... they deserve so much more.
