Sorry, I missunderstood. That was more of a response to I think Leupold and the likes are over rated and WAY over priced. Leupolds are neither. That said, I agree that if you want an inexpensive, quality scope for some plinking fun, Leupold does not fit the bill. They are rather spendy, but you do get what you pay for. In some situations, you don't need what you are paying for with a Leupold.
I've heard good things about the newest generation Weavers. The guys I know that have them are very impressed. I would caution against putting a "cheap" scope on it just because it is a "cheap" gun. Spending a bit more on optics is never a mistake. The Weavers seem like they neatly split the difference between the extravagance of a Leupold and the el-cheapo Tascos, BSA's, and the like.
