Agree with guys. i used to run a 76 CIS with a 2.7 lump and replaced with a carrera 3 3ltr (200bhp) there was no comparison in terms of fun and drivability, generally much better to at least open up the 3ltr and see whats the problem,if terminal then a replacement 3ltr is a much more robust and reliable bet, the basis is essentially the same as the original 3 ltr turbo so its just a much less stressed lump and you can get 220 to 230 hp relatively easily particularly on a rebuild.
