as a quick note, when the immobilizer is active the light on the dash is flashing away as normal. When you put the "key chip" into it - the red light goes solid whilst it's in there but when you take the "key chip" out, instead of extinguishing the light so you can start the car, the red light returns to flashing status and you can't do anything with the car except listen to the stereo!
