Use an Ohm meter, or voltmeter (set to Ohms) to test continuity between the old connector, it's plug/wire and compare it to the new.

So, if the plug that goes into the dizzy has 2 slots side by side, put one probe in the right side of the connector and figure out if it's the center wire or the one the wraps around. Once you figure this out, you should be able to repeat the procedure on the new plug to determine which is the right way around.

Does this make sense?

If not, the worst case is that your timing will be way off and it will probably backfire and run like crap if you've got them reversed.
