How 'bout a party with a wedding reception theme? Complete with a weddding cake/grooms cake, bouquet for your mom, decorations, modest wedding presents, yadadadadada? Hire a photographer and compile a "new" wedding album. Family dresses the part as groomsmen/bridesmaids...get a tux for your dad and a nice off white dress for your mom. Have music from their era. Take your dad out for a "bachelor's" party the night before. A little campy, but they'd probably get a kick out of it...
