The first thing I'd do with a demo is slick the HD and start fresh. I'm not familiar with HP laptops but my IBM has software to restore the PC to it's factory original state with a single button press plus it can image the state of the system for easy restore. Investigate this option on your HP.
Sage advice from Keith too. Was talking about all the trial software and stuff like "AOL free for 90 days" etc... So much crap...
