i once came close to buying a 944 painted by a dutch artist called Otti
looked ok on picture
deal was 1500 euro ( type 2's usually go for 3000 for ok ones, 4500 for good ones)
showed up, it was a bit damp inside, but decent interior
started fine, went for test drive, sounded ok
the paint was poor though, it had been painted with big blobs and thick paint, loads of texture, no clear coat and it had been standing outside...
figured ok, i'll buy it, can't be that bad, at worst i strip it and give it a cheap respray and i'll have a good runner (was driving beater 924 at the time sicne my 911 was still project status)
so i tell the guy , deal, let's stop at atm for cash and we'll round it up
i get my cash, he figures, let me have one more drive to my place
num nuts dumbs the clutch and does a burn out, and i start hearing gearbox whining and rattling...
eehm yeah, well, thx, but my offer just dropped to 500 buddy, take it or leave it...
he left it ...
