The original post by frogger touted that Trent Lott was resigning as good news for Mississippi.
Today Dickie Scruggs, Lott's brother in law, was indicted for bribing a judge $40,000 to obtain a favorable ruling in an award of $26.5 million in attorneys fees to Scruggs in Katrina related attorneys fees in a lawsuit against insurance companies. Only problem was was that the judge was working with the FBI in a sting operation and has the conversations re: the bribe on tape. Scrugg's former law partner has recently been convicted of bribing judges and sentenced to 11 years.
As for Lott...rumor here has it that his resignation has something to do with a sex scandal involving a male escort service.
