Well the trucks from ford are not all that good, but the Taurus and the Crown Vic are both top of class.
The 1994 Taurus SHO that I had was better in frontal crash and off-set crash testing that the Volvo 850 of the time. It also did very well in the side impact testing. This was very important to me at the time since it was primarily going to be my wifes car.
I would not purchase a Ford SUV or Truck.... since they are having all those issues... also I will not ever purchase a new Ford again due to the poor service on my new SHO. That said I still like the old 1990-1995 SHOs and might buy one for fun winter vehicle again some day.
