Okay, wait a minute here. Ironically, this is the amp the original owner gave me out of box of miscelaneous Porsche parts along with the original Reno. It looks like all the others in 928's, so I just assumed it was the right one. But he did have several older 911's, a brand new 911 Turbo, Aston Martin etc. You get the idea. Anyway, when this car got to Indiana, the car audio store went to install the old original stuff and of course the Reno plugged right in with no problems, but the manager came out and said that this was the wrong amp for this car. I argued a little with him, though I have no background in anything electrical to back up any of my claims, that it definitely had to be the correct one. He kinda shook his head and murmered something under his breathe like, "Well, I'm just tellin' ya', it's definitely not the same amp that came with this car, that's for sure". He went on to explain something about the DIN plug that originally came with this car had to many DIN plugs or something for this particular amp. It didn't mean anything to me at the time, but after this comment about post '88 amps being 6 channel vs. 4 channel, now it kinda does. This just so happens to be a very late production '88, so is it possible that the change from 4 to 6 channel amps actually began somewhere in the late '88 models? That would certainly explain things.
Oh, so what did I end up doing with the wrong amp and the correct one no where in sight? The just ran everything off of the stereo. He said that the only difference would be some possible noise distortion on some stations, but that the only real purpose those amps served was to seperately power the tweeters or something like that. All I know is that is sounds just like one would with the correct amp........awful!

. But all of the original power is uneffected so there ya' go! Anyway, I think the PO accidentely gave me the wrong amp, and secondly, I think those 6 channelers actually started up on late '88's instead of '89. Just a thought, or theory anyway.
