Like HardDrive said "your a good dad".
I've had to deal with the death issue with my 2 kids (boy and girl) but it was family lost not friends (it's hard any way it comes). Best advice is not to sugar coat it, lieing about it to save feelings makes it worse and confusing. Also as you already know; hugs and love works wonders.
