The Church at the end of the movie is in La Verne, CA and it didn't have an outside staircase
The scene where Ben is going back to Santa Barbara from Berkley and goes through the tunnel is on 101 NORTH BOUND and not south. That tunnel is at Gaviota Pass on 101.
Norman Fell played the Berkley Apartment manager was later Mr Roper. He had a long and distinguished career in TV and movies...including the series Peter Gunn and a role of detective in Bullit and Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
