In some ways that's not all that different from the U.S. If you hurt someone, you hire expensive lawyers to reach a settlement and mutual agreement that there will be "no admission of wrongdoing".
The difference is in Russia everyone admits it and that's just the way things are. In the U.S. it's sugar-coated and legitimized by procedure and formality. In both cases, the rich get away with whatever they want and the average or poor do not.
I'm not saying it's right (it's not) but given the shortcomings of our system, I wouldn't be so quick to look down my nose at the rest of the world.
