I agree. I stay pretty quiet usually - in the circle I have been abducted into by the GF I always get harassed with "what's wrong?" along with constant prodding that I need to "see my friends"
They think I'm not having "fun" if I'm not giggling like a schoolgirl talking about my friends, asking about my friends, trading gossip about friends, where are my other friends, do my friends miss me (they are all independent guys in their late 30's and have kids, etc- hell no they don't) I should miss my friends, I should always try to do things with my friends, bla bla bla.
I want to add to legion's post if it isn't Mom and Dad, it's "friends". Got to ask 20 friends and go with the popular consensus and be doubly sure EVERYBODY has a part in it.
My 11th grage English teacher explained it (Her friends) as a "Mule Commitee" - can't reproduce on it's own.
Not a lot of people I know around here are not really like this, but the ones that are really stick out. It's irritating as hell just getting something done, or 20 unsolicited opinions on why my personal choice in ANYTHING should be reconsidered.
Even ordering dinner is a PITA when this happens.
