I will write about our rebuild, so you can follow and maybe give some advice.
I picked up the car from germany, got it transported to estonia. It had californian plates and it was sitting in germany for 6 months. changed the oils, fixed brakes and drove around for 300km. Then we started taking the car appart.
Car came out of the factory in 71, and should be 72 model. it has full leather interior (black), tinted widows, rear window heating (2stage). It also has S trim outside, 5 speed gearbox. it has been converted to weber carb in the states sometime ago.

This is what we got.

after one day it looked like this

plan was to take everything apart from the body shell.
removed the engine, gearbox, axels, wireing, everything.
Here started striping old underseal and paint

Because sandblasting wont take off factory underseal or stoneguard (dont know exactly name in english) we started cleaning the body with anglecuters and wirebrushes. real pain was the engine compartment. finally after one week it was clean.

now we were ready do take it to sandblasting, i wanted only to clean places where we were unable to clean. They did nice job and primed the places wich they sandblasted also.

after we took it to guy who is working with sheet metal, it had rear hat self tottaly rusted, and front suspension and tank suport. I ordered those new and waiting to install them. Mean while engine and gearbox have been taken apart and at the moment im making a list what to order. Engine and gerabox cases are going to dry ice blasting. Also generator and starter have been rebuild. All aluminium parts (blower case, intake manifolds and etc... )have been send to media blasting. Next i will clean the carb bodys with a hot tank and ultrasonic wawes ( my friend is a goldsmith and he has the equipment)
Interior will be totally new, made with natural leather, also floor mats are custom made) Now question is with wiring harness, is it possible to get that also new or do i have do rebuild it?
And with the paint, it was color code 414 Olive green. If i changed it to some other color what was available by porsche that year, will it change the value of the car? next week i will take axels and other metal parts to sandblasting and then they will be hot painted. If anyone has pics about how porsche had cars painted when they come out of the factory, i know that inside the floor was black and also dasboard. What about underseal and engine compartment, where they body color or also primed do some other color.
In january i will need some advice also about suspenison, Koni or Bilstein or Boge?
