The little black round Bosch relay is the correct relay.
The wiff of plastic is from the heat from the paper clip (horn current makes heat) unless there is significant damage to the socket, it will be ok.
As already suggested, be sure there are no internal jumpers in the wires from the socket you have. Place one lead of your continuity tester in one of the socket holes, and touch each wire end in turn. Only one wire for each socket hole should show continuity.
