I looked closely at my wiring harness to discover a second, old brown/white wire (I assume based on some of the covering that's left in places). that's completely bare in the harness. It looks like the PO at some point fried this wire, left it exposed in the harness and ran a new wire from the steering wheel to the front. Remember this car was originally rigged with a generic 3-prong relay.

Am I correct in assuming that the old wire might be touching somewhere and completing some sort of circuit? I am taking the steering wheel apart to see if he left it in there.

Ulrich, if the original wires are burned, then you should try using the new wire the PO installed to see if that has your horn working properly. Does the new wire run from the horn button to the trunk?
