I arrived at a job site in Newport last month to find the doors of the utility/tool trailer wide open.

The thieves had just cut the hardened Master padlock and helped themselves to $5k worth of pneumatic guns, Bosch table saw, etc. Luckily all of the Festool stuff, and a lot of other tools were inside the carriage house or it could have been much worse. The guys at the tool store said that I was lucky the bastards just cut the lock, as they have seen cases where the thieves just cut the side of the trailer open with a battery powered sawzall if they couldn't get the door open.
My cousin in Michigan just had his trailer stolen from a job site with about $25k worth of tools inside.

His job is at a standstill until he buys everything new while waiting for the insurance settlement, which will be about .25 on the dollar for used tools.
