about 10 hours to R&R and rebuild, plus parts. no sense in just doing 2nd. the other syncros, shift sleeves, syncro teeth, etc should all be inspected and replaced as needed. sometimes you get lucky. then there's the clutch. gotta check it if the trans is off the engine. $3500 seems a bit steep to me. maybe $2500 tops for trans only and as little as $2000 if it doesn't need much. parts prices are up considerably over just a year ago, so the days of the $1500 rebuild are over.
