I have raced with Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR) a couple of times. The vintage guys seem to follow the "gentleman's racing" philosophy. Your 74 might qualify as vintage in some clubs.
In my experience racing with 3 clubs there is a varying amount of contact tolerated by the organizations. NASA tolerates the most, RMVR the least, and PCA seems to be somewhere in the middle.
That's of course just my opinion and the clubs in your area may be different.
