I don't know about accidents, but I've noticed very different behavior from others depending on what car I'm driving. My first car was a Camero my dad was going to make a racecar out of but gave to me instead (hated it, but it was free). My experiences in that car with cops/other drivers were much worse than the Porsches. I honestly think driving a bright red 911 attracts less attention, but 911s are pretty common here. The main differences I've noticed:
1970 Camero, bright green, driven '96-'98: I suffered endless harassment from cops in this car. Got pulled over for speeding 4 times, given tickets 3 times. Registration expired in February, forgot to put the new sticker on and got pulled over for registration twice in the first week of March. Even if I wasn't speeding or doing anything wrong, cops would shadow me for miles on the freeway waiting for me to do something wrong. The pork-chop sideburns probably didn't help either, though. Middle-aged guys in trucks listening to WhiteSnake were constantly trying to race me. I got comments like "Dude, that mother's bad-ass!" As soon as I got a job I bought a 944 in an attempt to metaphorically "get out of the trailer park".
1985 944, silver, driven '98-present: Pulled over for speeding 3 times, once for doing 95 in a 55. Never given a ticket, just told to slow down. Drove around with expired tags for 10 months (due to DMV error and my laziness to deal with it) before a cop finally pulled me over for it. Lots of ricers would try to race me.
1984 911, red, driven October-present: No run-ins with the law but it's still early. The 911 turns a lot more heads but I don't notice people following too close to get a better look. I've always noticed that when a Ferrari or Lambo comes up in the fast lane it seems EVERBODY immediately pulls out of his way. I never really noticed this with Porsches, but it has actually happened to me a few times in the 911, never in the other cars. The ricers seem to leave me alone, though I had one guy in a riced out VW GTI reving his engine when he got near me in traffic.
