That conservative columnist Brooks said it best on the PBS Lehrer report tonight: "Biden and Richardson aren't doing well in Iowa because we haven't said a word about them compared to Hillary and Obama."
Isn't this all just a media event up to this point? Or call it the Hillary-Obama show. With lately, mostly good spin about Obama and bad spin about Hillary.
Edwards? Oh yeah. The guy with the organization in Iowa.
Is there a dimes worth of difference between any of these Democrats? Of course not. Except maybe Hillary will have Bill around calling the shots--which he did a decent job of for eight years when he wasn't busy dodging all too many Republican bullets. If she spent more time reminding people of how well off they were in the 90s compared to today, she might be doing better.
Things realist Democrats (are there any?) should be worried about:
1) Can a black guy beat a white male nationally for President? What happens when the media starts to get critical?
2) Can a white woman named Clinton beat a white male nationally for President? How can she overcome the negative media?
Things realist Republicans (are there any?) should be worried about:
1) Can a fundamentalist Christian preacher-type win nationally for President?
2) Are white males the only Republicans qualified to run for President? Or Vice President?
And one more thing: Who gives a damn about Iowa--except the media, which is treating this caucus like it was the final national election in November.
After Iowa, my cat still has a chance to win the nomination--of either party.
