I just had a good amount of information with my tire guy and we worked out a testing plan for the tires this coming season. i think rather than throw wider tires at it, we need to be good and damn sure that tire widths are really my issue. perhaps if I can either a) verifiy I'm getting the current tires up to temp or b) figure out HOW to get them there, then i can look into upgrading.

I realized that my questions belied an "uncertainty" with my decision that I need to build a little more confidence around first.

He actually suggested that I RAISE my pressures by 2-4 lbs first, telling me that he's pretty sure the increased grip from this will actually raise the pressures.
