Yea, not sure. Tires are a bit of a black art still, so it could probably be a few things. I can construct a model for why they might go off sometimes due to straight overheating, but I won't claim it's right:

I made up mythical Gs a tire could pull at various temperatures (the first two columns). I then multiplied those Gs by a made-up constant to get the temperature rise above track temp due to friction (the 3rd column). The last three columns result from adding that to various starting track temps.

At 60F track temp the tire wouldn't have the grip to get above 150, or just 1.1 Gs.
At 85F the tire gets to an ideal 191, while at 105 it overheats to 211, where grip starts to fall off.

Of course I made all those numbers up, but you get the idea. I suspect something a little like that is going on, and if so it's going to be pretty impossible to get your tires working well across all track temperatures. What temp would you plan for? Wider tires for hot days, A6s for cold?

I don't know the answer, but it's interesting stuff. The new BFG R1s, which I've only driven a couple times but like, are supposed to have a very wide operating temperature range: 160-220 degrees.
The V710 lists 180-220, but works pretty well at autocross temperatures too.
