My house is cooled by a system called evaporative cooling in which water is evaporated and in so doing cools the air. The windows are left open and because of the low humidity the differential in temp inside and outside can be as much as 35 degrees. So my only costs are for the electricity to run the squirrel fan motor for air and the water that evaporates.
My bills are all automatic deduction since last year, but in 2005 and 2006 my electric bills were as follows:
May 2005 $52.85 2006: $74.32
June 2005 $69.67 2006: $100.96
July 2005 $127.96 2006: $132.57
AUG 2005 $119.03 2006: $121.58
Sept2005 $116.01 2006: $103.44
Oct 2005 $85.93 2006: $82.27
Nov 2005 $50.02 2006: $57.76
I should add that the master bedroom has a separate system with electric heat and A/C and those costs are included in the above.
