Hey Rick,
Don't use it, tried once before but hosed up my xp box. I have heard good things about it though.
It may not be able to remove/quarantine the bad stuff because it may be running a process that AVG can't kill. Try and reboot into safe mode and run AVG, usually those "suspect" processes, will not load in safe mode.
