I don't think the '95 has driveblock (98% certain). It is only the later 993 engines. You need to find a way to check that the DME (computer) is working and that the igniter is working (this turns the computer generated signal into a higher current signal which will drive the ignition coils. It is an amplifier of sorts.

First question: 1. Does your new fuel pump turn on under cranking? If so, it is likely the DME computer is working. The computer actually triggers the fuel pump (via stage two of the DME relay) under cranking once it sees motion from the crank position sensor.

If the computer is working, then it seems your igniter is likely bad. It could easily be an intermittent problem and might be sensitive to low voltages.

It would be nice to help you diagnose the problem as opposed to simply swapping parts.
