Any exercise is good, but I've heard that 30-60 minutes a day at 75%+ of your theoretical max. heart rate is sort of a convention. YMMV.
Go run or bike out on the road. It's far less boring and you actually get to get outside and go someplace! I agree, treadmills & stationary bikes are boring as hell.
